After 50 years of dedicated service in the Archdiocese of Goa and of late in the Poona. The Congregation felt the need of stretching forth its arms in the diocese of Gujarat, i.e. in the area of Nagar Haveli. His grace Bishop Raul Gonsalves has availed us of this opportunity to work in collaboration with the Pillar Fathers.
On reaching the land the Srs. Lydia, Elizabeth and Aida were warmly greeted and welcomed by the fathers over there and the people around. Infact in the initial stages the sisters had to confront a lot of difficulties such as a accommodation, loneliness etc, the sisters for two months occupied a classroom for the accommodation while in due time the school building was given to them to reside.
The main pre-occupation of the sisters is to spread the message of Christ’s love to the poor in keeping to the charism of the Congregation through their dedicated and committed service. Teaching in another apostolate on the list. The sisters are as full time teachers in Fr. Angelo’s EnglishMediumSchool in Silvassa and St. Mary’s School in Vapi, Chando from ‘87, which covers a distance of 18 kms from here.
Various means have been sought out to take up the missions. The sisters have taken the mission station called Massate, which was completely neglected for a long time and is about 8kms. These contribute a lot of their valuable services in the pastoral activity, liturgy, catechetics, adult catechesis, family visit etc.
As we gratefully recall on God’s blessing we implore the Almighty to send many more hands to serve in the Vineyard.
